Mission:
Standing By
Location: Bridge
[PREVIOUSLY]
I like it when he takes charge thought Percy as he walked off the lift and onto the bridge, but he quickly pieced together that conversation was about Haruna. "She can work with me," Percy said trotting towards the assembly of people. "Let her be my responsibility" he said looking at Grace and to Yiv.
"There's a plethora of seeds and bulbs i have in storage, and several I'd like to get my hands on that require specific equipment and conditions for them to grow. It would take an engineering crew forever, and I'm not about to pull them away from more pressing matters" he stated.

He placed a hand on his waist. "She can stay aboard and receive treatment, it keeps her active and busy under my supervision, and the work she'll be doing will keep her away from engineering but still be beneficial to the ship and crew." Percy looked at Yiv. "Yes, she's a Starfleet officer, but she's a person first and foremost. If there's something wrong with her we owe it to her to not give up on her."
The Counselor gave a soft sigh, having had her comment go completely ignored. It was not unusual for that to happen on this ship and wondered if she should put in for yet another transfer. She did not want to do that. After all, another transfer would be her fourth ship in less than three years, but between Percy, Grace, and now the new Doctor, she was up to her neck in egotists.
Percy had not missed a lot of what had been said before his arrival back on the bridge, but if there was one thing he could read it was Amanda's frustration. I'll have to check on her later. She's been through a lot. "Counselor," he said looking to his longtime nemesis. "You arguably are the best suited from a psychological viewpoint and were in the room with her. What do you think?"
Grace didn't mean to ignore Amanda. She'd hoped to circle back to her before Percy commented. Now she turned to the counselor to hear her opinion.
Knowing he was now Executive Officer, Yiv resisted the urge to dramatically roll his eyes, and settled for looking at his boots as he played with his moustache as he waited for the Counsellor's answer. They were all being so insufferably human about the whole matter. It works better on Efrosia. Clear cut decision. Cut her loose to be cared for properly. No need to worry about the crew as family.
Before Amanda could answer Aaron cut in. "The plan that has been offered is better than the one that Mustache Man offered. At least this plan keeps her on the ship. I would like to add that once I diagnose her and begin treatment and she no longer is a threat..." He emphasized the word threat and looked at the XO's direction. "...Then she be returned to full duty with the position granted her by Starfleet Command." The tone of the Doctor's voice showed that this was non-negotiable. He was no longer amused, now he advocated for his patient.
Grace turned to the doctor. "If she can be treated here and if she can be proven to no longer be a threat to herself or this ship, reinstatement will be considered," she said firmly. "Just be aware that it may take more than finding and treating a condition for her to make a permanent change. She's going to have to put in time and effort as this may also be a willful disregard for others."
Amanda glared at the Doctor. He was truly insufferable. Perhaps she would have to call him in for an evaluation at some point, or at least check when he last had his psychological fitness test. She sighed and after the Commander came to her conclusion, "I have to partially agree with the Doctor. As I said before, the first step is to rule in or out any external factors, including parasites, mind control, or other physical or objectively provable causes for her actions. After that, I could evaluate her, but I do share the concern that I might be a trigger. Then again, she does have to learn to work with people on more than her own level. As I'm certain that you know, Commander, she expects everyone to adapt to her and not to structure. How many times has she dropped out of a ceiling into a briefing?"
"Perhaps, I could mentor her, I know what it's like to adapt to structure and new social cues, after living by your own rules." Anahera said. "I could be an ear for her to talk to, if she finds she can't talk to the Counselor. I don't have counselor training, but I've been a mother and grandmother, my mother was an El-Aurian, so I should be good at this."
"Too damn many," replied Percy in response to Amanda. "Haruna's fixation with anything classic in design or whatever new and shiny thing tends to distract her," he stated his observation. "I think we all are in agreement she needs help whatever that may be and requires observation."
Amanda looked over at Anahera. "A friend at this time, would be greatly helpful to her. Perhaps then she could see the process of maturity does not have to be frightening or threatening."
Aaron nodded in agreement to Amanda's statement. "If we are going to attempt the treatment it has to be understood that if it turns out that Haruna has something akin to Autism then we are not to treat them like a science experiment..." Aaron chuckled internally at his own words. Coming from him not treating someone like an experiment was a great feat. "...I would also agree that a friend to help her through this time would be appreciated." He added as he looked in Anahera's direction. Aaron's attention next turned to the XO. "If it turns out to be something that cannot be treated here, or something that is larger than what we expect I will make arrangements to have the Lieutenant transferred to Starfleet Medical for further treatment." This was Aaron's way of getting on even footing with the XO. However, at this time Dr Marcus was sure that he would not have to transfer Haruna.
Considering the Doctor's reply for a moment, Yiv hesitated, then nodded. 'That seems to be our agreement.'
Grace listened to everyone talk, letting them get their opinions out. In the end, they couldn't make a decision until Amanda and the new doctor had a chance to evaluate Haruna. "Is there anything else that needs to be discussed?"
'Not immediately,' Yiv said, 'we should be getting back to our actual duties, this matter has distracted the entire ship for long enough.'
"I don't know if long enough is the right phrase," Grace said with a sigh. "But I think we've sufficiently covered what is needed. At least for now." She was dangerously close to liking the doctor and she wasn't quite ready for that. Not tonight, anyway. He would no doubt return to his curmudgeonly self by morning. "Doctor Marcus, you have two days to do your initial evaluation and report to me. Lieutenant Rose, if you can, please use that time for your own evaluation. We will revisit this discussion then." She stood and looked at each of the officers in turn. "Thank you all. And now, if you don't mind, I think I'll get some sleep. We have a pirate problem to deal with later this morning."
