"....the USS Ontario," Talee muttered looking at her new orders she was truly hoping that the captain was able to find a way to keep her on the Ganymede.
"Yes, and truth be told crewmen you are extremely lucky to even get another assignment, and that you were not just kicked out of Starfleet," the personnel officer said looking over her records, "...so the Ontario should be arriving shor...err it is here now," he said flicking his wrist as he sent over the data.
Looking over the PaDD, Talee struggled to hold her tongue, wanting to tell off the personnel officer off, but was lucky, "...is there anything else?" The personnel officer just grumbled and waved her out of his small office, and with that Talee was off not looking forwarded to serving on a ship of that size. The one nice thing about about the Ganymede was, it was small which meant the artificial gravity was easier to control, and not as strong.
Making it back to her temporary bunk, she collected the few things she did have before, quickly leaving and heading for the Ontario berth. "Crewmen, please wait here," the security officer said, as he had another message come in, "please leave your belongings with me and I'll make sure they'll get to your bunk, and please follow the petty officer she'll take you to the captain," the security officer said simply holding his hand out for her bag.
Talee grumbled a little but handed over her duffle and followed the petty officer, up to the bridge and finally the ready room, where the petty officer hit the chime and waited with Talee until the call was answered.
There was a response on the chime to indicate an acknowledgement from the Captain. A man who would no doubt have been expecting a visitor....
"Captain, crewmen apprentice Talee Malena, you had mentioned that you wanted to see her she arrived," The petty officer said simply.
"Very well send her in." He responded as he looked away from his console and towards the doorway to his Ready Room.
"Captain," Talee said simply as she walked in and stood at attention.
"Can I help you with something Crewman?" Elijah asked as he looked towards the visitor to his Ready Room. He knew who she was and why she was here but he decided to plead ignorance for the moment at least.
"Security stopped me and told me to follow the petty officer to escort me to you," Talee said annoyed with this red-tape crap, "why, I do not know sir, that is above my pay grade," she added.
"Oh i know why you are here, you're here because based on your recent disciplinary actions they deemed it necessary to transfer you to my Ship." Elijah responded.
Talee again had to bite her tongue, {seems to be a promotion,} she thought, "....if you are expecting an apology...," Talee started unable to hold back, but luckily stop before she dug herself into a hole that was do deep even for her to get out of.
"Cewman Apprentice quite frankly I couldn't care less what you did on your previous assignment, you were disciplined and reprimanded accordingly." Elijah responded to her, "What I am concerned with is why such a seemingly talented Engineering Specialist is only Enlisted rather than an Officer."
{Don't think you could handle the answer,} Talee thought seeing that he was one of those career officers, "permission to speak freely?"
"Very well speak your mind Crewman.....You have one minute starting now." Elijah responded.
Talee wouldn't need a minuet, "sir, enlisted personnel are the backbone of any military outfit, even if they proclaim they are peacekeepers and explorers," she said with a slight disdain at the concept of that ideology, "...this fleet would be nothing with people like me who decide to not go the officer path, and most us do not actually need officers telling us what needs to be done," she continued trying to be careful with how she was saying it.
"We do this out of respect that for something like this to work it needs to be a one and not a many, though you need many to be a one," Talee said finally finishing her little spiel.
Elijah sat back in his chair and let a small smirk spread across his face. “Bold statement Crewman.....But I see your point of view.”
"....so yes, I am not looking to become a desk-riding officer, and I don't see this as a career, this is what saved my life, so I owe it everything I have," she added sounding determined.
"Well then welcome to the Ontario." He replied nodding ot her. "This Ambassador class ship is older than the two of us but she is to be respected and with her recent refits and updates she is to be looked after am I clear?"
"Yes" Talee said she had respected everything that was or what she considered a home, it just what you do.
"Well then you are dismissed Crewman Malena." Elijah said with a final nod of his head. Ontario was soon to be departing and it was time for their stations.
