"Mom, Mom, any idea when our new ship will arrive?" Crystal grabbing onto her mother's hand. maybe we can see their arrival, maybe?"
Madelyne smiled at her twelve year old daughter, giving a slight laugh. "The ship will be arriving when it is ready to do so. In the meantime was there something you wanted to before the USS Ontario arrives?"
"Oh yes, hmmmnnn, how about picking up some more puzzles, and maybe another dress or two? I do have enough pants and shirts, I just want to have a couple of dresses, in case we end up eating somewhhere fancy. And you really do need a couple of dresses..." she paused looking at her mom's expression. "Don't worry there will be pockets, I know how you like them in what you wear."
Madelyn laughed. "And you like having pockets in your skirts and dresses as well." pulling her daughter in for an embrace, and placing a kiss upon the top of her coppery red head.
A return squeeze then grabbing her mom's hand, Crystal pulled Madelyn towards and clothing shop. "Can't forget the shoes mom!" she called out.
An hour later, or was it an hour and a half? The two stepped outside of the store, carrying two bags of clothing. "You certainly like to shop." Madelyn stated to her daughter.
"Not that much but right now I get you all to myself, so I am going to make the most of it!" Crystal taking her mother's hand then twirling around while her mother held her hand. Her red curls bounced about as she did so. She let go of Madelyn's hand and spun off gracefully with poise like that of a ballerina for she had been taking lessons.
Madelyn watched with a fond and loving smile as her daughter danced for a short moment, Crystal was her life and her sunshine. Madelyn couldn't imagine what life could or would have been without her daughter. She was quite glad that she stuck to her guns to keep her daughter. Crystal danced back towards her mother, then made a curtsey at the end of her little impromptu dance, beaming her eyes alight with joy. Crystal started blushing slightly as she heard some clapping from passersby. Her only audience she had danced for was her mother, whom Crystal adored.
"Okay lets go, Mom, I think I've attracted an audience once again." Crystal giggling, as she pulled her mother in the direction of their room.
Madelyn lauughed,"Yes you did but nothing wrong with that, is there?"
Crystal shook her head, "I suppose not." giving a smile.
Madelyn transferred her shopping bag to the other arm, and put the other arm around the shoulders of her daughter then placing a kiss upon the top of Crystal's head as they walked to the turbolift to the floor where their room was. "Nothing wrong, whatsoever."
Walking inside, Madelyne looked at the bag which had the newly acquired clothing. "You know its a good thing that we have room in our duffels, otherwise I'd have to bug the people who are holding onto our other belongings and get them to put our stiff in our boxes."
Crystal spoke up, "And good thing we don't have a huge amount either with us moving around."
"Indeed that is very true." Madelyn already packing the new clothing and shoes into the duffel bag, which didn't take long. "Okay looks like we've got everything squared away. Now to go see if the ship has arrived. And no we're not going to do anymore shopping." Madelyn teased her daughter.
"But-but Moooooom...." Crystal teased right back.
Madelyn laughed. "Don't Mom me" giving a mock growl.
The two headed out the door and back to where they thought the USS Ontario would arrive. Madelyn could feel a little tightness appear in her stomach, feeling the anticipation as to what will be her new home with Crystal. What will be happening on this ship? What will the future bring? She wondered, then Madelyn's eyes widened, as an announcement came over the PA system, of the arrival of the USS Ontario. Both mother and daughter looked at each other excitement in their eyes giving a quiet squeal between them both. Then they looked around to make certain no-one saw that. Laughing they moved to another advantage point to watch as the ship arrived.
Crystal turned to her mother, "Do you think we can get someone to let us get a view from the outside? I would love to do that. "
Madelyne pursed her lips as she thought her eyes narrowing, she brightened up. "I think i can manage that."
"Are you sure?" Crystal asked rather intrigued,
"Just remember I am an engineer and well, I do know how to fix things up." Madelyn giving a mysterious smile.
"Uh oh I know that look, you've got a plan in mind. " Crystal's mouth going into an 'O" and having wonder in her eyes.
Madelyn pulled out her PADD, sent off a couple of messages, then the wait began. ten minutes later there was a return message. "Okay, lets go get that outside view of the Ontario."
They met with the man who was willing to give the birdseye view of the USS Ontario, all three getting into the shuttle which lifted off from the station's shuttlebay. Madelyn as well as her daughter watched with awe as they approached the Ambassador Class ship, the pilot of the shuttle making certain that they get the whole view. The Ontario wasn't a brand new ship, Madelyn didn't care, there was story there, seeing the classic lines of the ship. The ship had its own stories, its own history. It had character, and Madelyn was falling in love with the ship. "I get to be the Chief Engineer on that beauty." murmuring softly to herself as well as Crystal.
Crystal was amazed at being able to behold the ship which would be her new home. They had been on a Galaxy class ship but only had a brief glimpse of the outside, this though she was getting to see this at a more leisurely pace as the pilot was giving a grand tour as it were.
Madelyn kept an watchful eye noting some mars maybe something that had happened to the hull, so far it looked good. When she is fully on the ship she will have to do a walk about on the hull just for a better inspection. Maybe she will have some time depending on how long the ship will be docked here at the station. After one more flyaround, Madelyn directed the shuttle pilot to take them back to the station.
"I think it is time to start things rolling and make our appearance upon the ship and meet those there. Come what may, we'll will be together Crystal, at our new home." Madelyn remarked breathlessly feeling an excitement build within her, giving her daughter an enthusiastic embrace.
