Mission: Preservation Instinct
Location: Starbase Riversong

ON

The Ontario docked at Starbase Riversong at 0700. Grace had already filed her reports. Someone from Starfleet would be meeting with the lone survivor of the science team to talk with her and see that she had the proper medical and psychological evaluations.

For her first assignment as captain, she couldn't say it went particularly well, but she was pleased that there were no additional injuries. Everyone needed a break and she hoped the next 72 hours would give her crew a chance to unwind and regroup before heading out again.

She watched from the bridge as they docked and were connected to an umbilical. Only when all docking procedures were complete did she finally allow herself to relax. "Yiv, I'd like a skeleton crew for all shifts. And make sure everyone has 48 hours on the station. I'll take the first watch on the Bridge."

'So long as it's only the first,' Yiv replied quietly as he updated his PADD. 'I'll draw the skeleton shifts in lots so it's fair for the crew - they deserve some real r-and-r after the time we've spent out here.'

"I'll take the first Security shift." Anahera said.

"It's ours," Grace replied. "I'm counting on a quiet shift and a chance to catch up on whatever is needed." Hopefully not more reports.

A small trilling sound soon made its presence known as the Ontario's old intercom systems came to life. An internal point of origin would show Deck 6, the primary computer core. Soon the trilling noise was replaced with an upbeat tempo and instruments before the vocals of a woman kicked in:

Come on, shake your body, baby, do the Conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer

Grace immediately knew who was behind the music and laughed. Somehow, it was a fitting song for their arrival. She just hoped she didn't see a conga line dancing their way off the ship and down the umbilical.

The turbolift doors hissed open with a pneumatic sigh. Out stepped Lieutenant Percival Bálor, the stout, gruff half-Tellarite with wild sideburns and his perpetually furrowed brow. He strutted confidently onto the bridge, flanked by two young crewmen behind him, hips swaying in perfect rhythm — the three made their way around the bridge.

He made eye contact with the bridge crew including, and specifically Grace Vetur who Percy tried enticing and encouraged with a bending of his index. "Science, Captain. Morale experiment Bálor-Seven. Preliminary data shows a 62% increase in synaptic dopamine release, and you could use it."

She could indeed. But... "I'm still on duty, Percy." Grace couldn't help smiling, though. "I am also expecting a message and would rather not be caught dancing on the bridge when it comes in."

"Alright, but when I get back..." Percy prefaced and looked at Grace. "The Captain shall dance."

"If the captain is off duty." But she couldn't help smiling. Hopefully, it wouldn't take too long. As much as he aggravated her, Grace kind of liked him.

Percy nodded. "Understood, Captain. Safe travels" Lieutenant Bálor said as he made his way Conga lining around and back into the lift. He knew that he would be away from the Ontario for a while, but the starship was in excellent hands.

"Percy," Grace said before he left the bridge. "Take care of yourself and come back to us."

Anahera let a smile cross her lips, she was going to miss Percy too. She remembered their first meeting, and the subsequent invisible bunnicorn hunt.

As the lift doors began to close Percy smirked. That little mischievous glimmer in his eyes. "Oh, I'll be back. Keep my soon to be husband safe" added the Chief Science Officer referring to Yiv.

Lieutenant Xavier stood just above the docking area watching as the ship came in. The Ambassador class ship was sleek and beautiful. It already felt different then Gurty was. He wondered what name this ship would have. He knew that it had three shuttle bays and a whole host of crafts to fly. His fingers itched to get behind the console. If push came to shove he could push it above warp nine from what he read.

Xavier used his sleeve to wipe the drool from his lip. Was it wrong for him to want to be able to punch the speed just to feel space bending around the ship? He wondered what the crew would be like. With a sigh he turned away. The quicker he packed up his crates the better. He also needed a few things on the station.

He paused and turned back. "Welcome, Ontario. I look forward to flying with you." He turned away again and headed out. His new start was about to begin.

Sick Bay - Deck 7 - USS Ontario

Aaron sat at his desk and relished the utter silence. He had a good book, and a glass of scotch. There was literally nothing more that he wanted or would want. The Captain had encouraged him to take Shore Leave, and he refused as he told the Captain if he left the ship he may never return. However, he did make sure his staff would take leave. So, for the foreseeable future he would keep the home fires burning in Sick Bay. Aaron's euphoria was short lived as the speakers in sickbay came to life and some sort of infernal noise came through them. "Computer deactivate Sick Bay speakers." He ordered the computer and his blessed silence was returned.

Maxwell walked at a casual pace for most, not for himself as he did not really want to be going. The permission from the Captain allowed him to seek out a last effort to remain on the Ontario, he needed to get cleared.

The new Duty meant Physical and Mental check; Maxwell sought a Second opinion. All he had was the woman beside him; supporting him as he went off ship; her own leave time to compensate.

'Aya' to her friends; Lenn'Aya her given name on duty but Maxwell had one for her he used exclusive.

"Bunny' you do not have to come along." Maxwell said but did slightly grip her hand with unsaid desire for her to be there.

Giving him what could be a demure; or even cold Andorian sideways glance, she had that sly grin of mischief he adored. An off the shoulder soft cotton shirt with ling almost translucent long sleeves that allowed her skin to breathe she was not letting go.

The soft blue pleated skirt went to the knees and flared a bit. Ankle boots of black just above her ankles with a low heel. modest earrings with small white pearls to match the long 16 inch necklace he had given her as a set
Well Past the shoulders silver hair and vibrant blue eyes looked him straight on.

"I hear they have wonderful Ice Coffee on the station." She purred. "YO take all the time you wish; after all you promised me alone time to stretch our legs, lunch and a hotel with a large tub."

"Y-yes I did." Maxwell moved her slapped hand to his lips to kiss. "I will need the 'pampering' after all this."

"I had the special blanket and our luggage sent to the Hotel. All we need is to get the room key and then I will take care of my 'Hot Stuff."

"This counselor was sent a brief from my Handler; a Male this time; heard he has been on front lines during Dominion War and has a lot of experience with Combat Disorders." He chuckled. "Said he was here to relax for his last years till retirement."

Exiting onto the station Aya felt him tense slightly, she embraced his arm and came close like humanoid females do to loved ones, almost able to rest head on his shoulder as they walk.

"I will be close Hot Stuff, no need to worry." Aya assured.

Her antennae were still relaxed and she knew he would be okay but any concerns did not get given away by her traitorous 'Ears' as Robin called them.

"Just call out my name... "She sung low in his ear. "You wherever I am I'll come running..." The kissed the edge of his ear. "You've got a girlfriend..."

Maxwell chuckled; yes, he had a wonderfully support as he continued towards the Counselor on the Riversong Station.

Amanda was uncertain what to do with her shore leave. She knew that it was healthy to take time to rest and relax. She also knew that she could probably use it. Between Maxwell/Chaotic, Percy, the Doctor, Yiv, and all of her other peers, she needed some self-care.

However, everyone was going to be off the ship and the thought of going where everyone else was going was not desirable. So, rather than immediately leave the ship, Amanda decided to book some time on the holodeck to practice her ballroom dancing with a holo partner.
